About Me
Professional
I finished my master's degree in Computational Engineering Science at RWTH Aachen University in 2019 and have since been employed as a PhD Student at the Computer Animation Group. Currently my main areas of research are:
As a part of my research, I work a lot with our open source library SPlisHSPlasH, which I contribute to actively.
Personal
In my free time, I enjoy doing a large variety of things including:
- 3D modeling in Blender and photogrammetric reconstruction of real world objects
- Coding on personal projects
- Cooking and Baking
- Cycling and Hiking
- Photography
- Gaming
Favorite Open Source Projects
The following is a curated list of my most frequently used open source projects:
-
Joplin
- Markdown based note-taking application which supports all major platforms and has apps for both Android and iOS. It is my daily driver for quickly jotting down thoughts, writing drafts of texts and typesetting text containing mathematical equations.
-
Meshio
- Amazing python library for working with unstructured meshes of almost any format and incredibly useful for reading, writing and converting
-
pybind11
- C++11 library for creating python bindings from existing c++ code. It is incredibly easy to set up and use and it immensely increases the versatility of both python and C++ code due to the possibility combining accelerated and parallel computations using C++ and simple IO operations using Python. I frequently use pybind11 in conjunction with Meshio and plan on doing a blog post on this soon.
